PRAYERS FOR THE PRESIDENT

God often uses dreams to speak to his children.  The first dream I remember God giving me was a powerful one that led me to repentance, a born-again experience, and leading a life in service to Jesus Christ.  That dream was 34 years ago and he has spoken to me in many dreams since.  Many times I have had dreams where I am praying for a specific person or group.  Sometimes I know who I am praying for and sometimes I don't.  I had another dream recently where I prayed for someone in authority over our country.  This person is well known by many in the United States and the world.  I have only met him in this dream.  He is our U.S. President, Donald Trump.

In my dream, I was attending a rally for President Trump.  I was sitting in the balcony above and behind him.  I haven't attended a political rally in person but have seen some on TV.  President Trump was speaking to a large crowd of people in an arena that looked like a gymnasium to me. The crowd was clapping and cheering for him as he spoke.

After the rally ended, I grabbed my things and started down the stairs to the main floor where President Trump had spoken.  I asked God to give me an opportunity to pray for and with him.  However, as I was getting my things together, he exited a side door in the back of the gymnasium.  About 30 seconds later, I walked toward the same door to exit.  As I was about to open the door, President Trump opened the door and entered back into the gymnasium.  We were face to face and he politely said "hello" to me.  I replied, "Hello sir, my name is Julie and I am from Nebraska. and it is very nice to meet you".  He said, "Thank you".

God gave me the opportunity, so I asked him if I could pray for him.  He said yes.  I thanked God for a president that serves God and is doing his best for the people of the United States.  I prayed for protection over him and his family.   I also prayed the Holy Ghost would guide him and give him wisdom and strength to lead the country according to God's will and righteousness.  He thanked me and asked if I filled out a form to receive an autographed photo of him.  I said no, so he had an assistant give one to me to fill out and I did.

I believe God gave me this dream to remind me that we should pray for those in authority over us.  Proverbs 29:2 states, "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice:  but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."  A righteous person in authority will rule according to God's will and cares for those who are under them.  A wicked person in authority will have selfish ambitions and not care for those under them.  Which person would you rather have in authority over you and your country?

I Timothy 2: 1-3 states, "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.  For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth."

We are to pray for all men, including those in authority over us.  This is a good thing that will lead to a life of peace.  We may not agree with or be of the same party as those in authority over us but we are still to pray for them.

Pray that those in authority who are righteous continue ruling in righteousness and that those in authority who are wicked would repent, be born again spiritually, and commit their lives to Jesus Christ.  God wants all men to be saved, so let's do what the scripture says. Let's make supplications, prayers, intercessions, and give thanks for all men especially those in authority over our country, states, and cities.
